Going Beyond Traditional Platforms
The concept behind Terra 2236, a mobile gaming application, is to spread the message of sustainability and impart users with green knowledge in a fun and engaging way. The brain behind this initiative, Mr Ben Chong, Woodgrove Division's CCC Chairman, says, "Everyone is online nowadays, it is the best way to engage and educate the younger audience about the environment. We hope that while playing the game, users can also learn at the same time."
Terra is Latin for Earth, and the setting of the game is in the year 2236 when Earth becomes extremely polluted and uninhabitable. A simple action of wasting food or drinking from a plastic bottle can lead to serious environmental consequences in the long run. What can we do to protect the world we live in? Terra 2236 hopes to instil the topic of sustainability in people's mind and be responsible for the little steps we can take to start protecting the environment now.
The game was launched on 9 July, in conjunction with World Environment Day, by Guest-of-Honour Ms Hany Soh, Adviser to Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC GROs (Woodgrove). Residents were introduced to the game and encouraged to share with their friends to reach a wider target audience.
What else can we expect from this app, besides becoming the top score to win attractive prizes such as an Acer Vero Green Laptop worth $1,398? It is also a platform to uncover and join sustainable, such as upcoming flea markets or seminars. It is truly a convenient way to get started on sustainable living.
